While in Long Beach, I met my long-time college friend for brunch at Ubuntu. We ordered our food and the manager came out to chat us up. He brought out an olive oil muffin for us to sample. Delicious! My Breakfast Sandwich was the tasty. The bacon was cooked as I like it and the avocado and egg added to the flavor. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict and said it was amazing as always. Later on, the owner came by to chat with us as well. She informed me of the meaning behind Ubuntu. Even though the restaurant was getting busier, she made time to connect with us and have meaningful conversation. We appreciated that so much. We chatted about the new location opening in Belmont Shore. When I'm back in the area, I will definitely stop by.

This time we tried the Eggs Benedict. It was good but rather pricey at $28. We also tried the bread pudding and it was fine. Next time we'll get our favorite scrambled eggs with mushrooms and also try the Chilaquiles that we saw arrive at another table that looked really good. Of course we always get the amazing Brazilian Cheese Bread.

We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy, so we ordered some lunch. I ordered a vegan burger with salad and a chai latte. Rick ordered the cheeseburger with salad. The buns on both burgers were so soft and delicious. We also wanted to try the Brazilian cheese breads. Food was excellent and fresh! The cheese bread was fantastic! I highly recommend those with coffee! Yummy! The cafe was refreshingly decorated with fresh flowers and cute pictures. We will be back.

Cute, outdoorsy cafe. Indoor outdoor seating. Super busy. Friendly staff. Very attentive. Order at counter. No table service. I ordered the lentil and potato bowl added Portuguese sausage and avocado. The bowl was a 10/10. It was a bowl of lentils, which were well seasoned and delicious. On top of the lentils were a small scoop of the fingerling potatoes, a hard boiled egg cut in half, pickled onions and chilies. A long with my added sides. Total: $29 I also ordered a macchiato with pistachio milk 10/10 and a small coffee. Coffee was great tasting and balanced. My friend ordered the breakfast sandwich. She started it was good. She ate every bite. Total: $14.

Ambiance: This place is adorable! So cozy and tucked in... they even had fluffy blankets on the chairs to wrap up in when it was cold. Loved that. Service: You pay at the counter FYI. Staff was super kind and helpful and made great suggestions! Food: I got the angry chicken sandwich and though it was delicious there wasn't even a hint of spice. Lol I did really enjoy my meal.... GET THE LEMONADE and thank me later! Overall this was a great place and I'll be back to try other things.

LOVEEE! The vibes at this cafe is just perfect for a weekend brunch! There are plenty of outdoor and indoor seating for everyone to choose. You need to first place your order at the counter and then you will be given a number plate before choosing your table. Everyone was super friendly and had a big cheery smile :) definitely a good kick start to my weekend. Avocado toast + devils egg toast: perfect balance in flavor over a perfectly toasted slice of bread giving it a good crunch! You can't go wrong with ordering these. Fruit bowl: fresh and delicious! The food and environment are amazing! Highly recommend and would definitely be coming back!

I've been working in DTLB for 16 years and I can't believe I have never been to Ubuntu!!!! Wow, they definitely live up to their name as the greatest neighborhood cafe! From location to food to service to even parking (you know how important parking is in LB and especially it is free)! Ubuntu situated nicely across the lagoon on top of an apartment complex, with plenty of parking in a big lot. They were all decked out for Christmas with a huge Christmas tree out front. This is the place for all your get-together with friends and family and they had such a nice brunch food and drink menu. We ordered a lot of things! One thing is that they want you to get in line to order your food and then grab a table. Once you are at your table and want to order more, you can always grab your server and order with him/her and pay, no need to go back in line. Food wise, EVERYTHING was good! The best thing I loved was the millionaire bacon, and I don't even like bacon!!! The piece was hug and thick and gooey with maple or something infused. So good! We had four adults and two kids so we ordered everything that looked good on yelp and about 3 or 4 orders of the cheese bread because the kids ate them all. I really like their short ribs chilaquiles, so good! Just like how I had it in CDMX! I also like the fig toast. Lastly, I love love this place for their coffee!!! They are one of the few that actually can make all their specialty coffee drinks in decaf!!!! I love their decaf Spanish latte! I got two of them! We lounged about and went to the lagoon to walk off some calories and came back to order some more to-go. I highly recommend Ubuntu!!!! If you haven't been, you are greatly missing out!
